“It pays to be a Winner” is Ben Williams’ mantra. When he decides to take up a cause, he dedicates himself mind, body, and soul.
Born in Belzoni, Mississippi, Ben excelled in football and baseball at Humphrey’s County High School. After a stellar high school career, Ben accepted a scholarship to play football for the University of Minnesota. He left the school in 1991as a team captain, a All Big Ten honors recipient, and as the program’s career leader in quarterback sacks.
Ben began his professional football career in the Canadian Football League with the Shreveport Pirates. After two years in the CFL, he joined the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. Williams would go on to also play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Dallas Cowboys. During his playing career, Ben became the only two-time winner of the NFL Strongman competition.
After 10 years of professional football, Williams’ knowledge of the game and outgoing personality afforded him opportunities in the sports media realm. He has been a talk show host, as well as a co-host and color analyst for ESPN and Sky-TV.
Forever an athlete, Ben has stayed involved in physical fitness, and is an in-demand personal trainer. He has also been invited to speak at many well known health and fitness events such as the IFBB International Fitness Seminar in Germany, and is actively involved the ever-popular Arnold (Schwarzenegger) Sports Festival Classic. He is the only non-IFBB professional to be granted the status of a professional trainer and certified nutrition specialist. Knowledgable in health supplementation, he launched the Ben Williams Professional Series supplement line.
Through helping clients reach their physical goals, Ben became motivated to assist people in other important areas of their lives such as healthcare, education, financial assistance, and care for people diagnosed with kidney disease and hypertension. He founded The Ben Williams Foundation as a way to pursue advocacy and solutions to these issues.
Williams has also become a strong advocate for former professional football players diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). During his search for ways to better the lives of former players and their families (including personal friends) diagnosed with CTE, Ben partnered with Lumineu to create and market an innovative device, that when combined with current protocals can facilitate the treatment of the effects of CTE. This technological breakthrough connected him to medical professionals who want to create a more efficient way to provide healthcare, not only to professional athletes, but to anyone who values their quality of life and that of their families.
The Ben Williams’ Foundation has launched Off The Field Plan, the premier telemedicine + medical discount plan. It helps former professional athletes, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and associations get major discounts on a wide variety of of medical and health-related services including telehealth, dental care, vision, prescription discounts, and hearing.
